How to Search Your iPad

Find anything on your iPad super fast! You can search for apps, contacts, messages, and even things inside your apps. It's like having a magic tool that finds everything you need!

Using Spotlight Search

1 Go to your home screen (press the Home button or swipe up from the bottom on newer iPads).
2 Swipe down from the middle of your screen. You'll see a search bar appear at the top.
3 Type what you're looking for - an app name, a contact, a website, or even words you remember from an email or message.
4 Tap on a result to open it right away!
Cool Tip: You can also ask Siri to search for things! Just say "Hey Siri, search for..." followed by what you want to find.

What You Can Search For

Spotlight Search can find lots of different things:

Searching Inside Apps

1 Open the app you want to search in (like Notes, Mail, Messages, or Safari).
2 Look for the search bar - it's usually at the top of the screen and has a little magnifying glass icon.
3 Tap on the search bar and type what you're looking for.
4 The app will show results that match what you typed.

Using the Quick Search Bar in Safari

1 Open Safari and tap on the address bar at the top.
2 Type what you want to search for on the internet.
3 Safari will show suggestions as you type. You can tap on one of the suggestions or press "Go" to search.
Cool Tip: You can also search for text on the current webpage! Tap the share button (the square with an arrow), then scroll down and tap "Find on Page."

Search Settings

You can control what appears in your search results:

1 Go to Settings and tap on "Siri & Search."
2 Scroll down to see a list of apps. Tap on any app to control whether it shows up in search results.
3 Turn on or off the "Show App in Search" option.
